Did you know October is Positive Aging Month?
To mark the occasion, Age-Friendly Pavement unveiled its first Positive aging calendar filled with a fantastic variety of events taking place throughout the month of October.
The month-long campaign aims to celebrate the contribution of seniors within our local communities while enabling them to lead full and active lives. It includes activities for everyone, from guided walks, arts, sports and cultural activities to online training sessions and employment counseling clinics.
Welcoming the initiative, the Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councilor Ivor Wallace said:
“Through our Age-Friendly Program, we want to embed seniors’ inclusion in all aspects of community life, remove barriers to participation, ensure access to services and make it a fun place to be.” to live for the elderly.
“We want to achieve this by working with our partners, and it is through this approach that we have been able to bring together such a wide range of events that will be held throughout Positive Aging Month.
“I would like to thank all of these organizations and Council departments for their collaboration on this calendar, and I hope it will encourage our older residents to try something new and forge new friendships and relationships throughout the month.”
Alan Sharp, President of the Causeway Coast and Glens Age-Friendly Forumsaid:
“The pandemic has limited our participation in previous years, but this program offers you a wide range of possibilities, including exercise opportunities, helpful information sessions, intergenerational exchanges and social occasions.
“Please let your friends know what’s going on and bring them along too to enjoy the fun.” I hope all of our seniors find Positive Aging Month informative and helpful. »
