Published by independent publisher Blue Crow Media and printed on thick stock by a family printer, the Brutalist Calendar 2022 (£24) celebrates brutalist architecture from around the world. Produced in a limited edition, the layout and lettering of the calendar correspond perfectly to the photographs of these concrete icons. Measuring 340 by 240mm when closed and 340 by 490mm when open, this calendar includes 12 black and white photographs.

A3 wall bracket

Kaleidoscopic and luminous, the A3 wall bracket (£18) is a risograph printed calendar from Gabriella Marcella’s design and printing studio, Risotto. Made in Glasgow from recycled paper, this calendar bursts with vibrant hues for each month and uses ombré to highlight the weekend and moon phases.

Brochure agenda

A slim 2022 planner that measures just three by four inches, Smythson’s 2022 Brochure agenda ($59) comes in luxurious scarlet red cross-grain lambskin leather with gold-edged pale blue featherweight paper. The pocket diary is structured around a weekly layout, with dates ranging from November 5, 2021 to January 22, 2023. Made in England, this small calendar can also be personalised.

TOILET PAPER Calendar

The TOILET PAPER Calendar 2022 ($23) delivers all the surreal, daring and sultry imagery that fans of artist Maurizio Cattelan and photographer Pierpaolo Ferrari’s magazine are accustomed to. This year’s culinary theme includes everything from microphones to chicken drumsticks to women sitting on fruit pies, putting this calendar somewhere between ’70s cookbooks and kitschy pin-ups. Juicy, bright and quirky, it’s a playful way to keep track of your days.

Astrology calendar

From Small Spells (directed by Rachel Howe) comes a mystical yet playful astrology calendar ($30) featuring Howe’s delightful hand-drawn illustrations. With relevant information like when a new moon is in Aquarius, the calendar is full of esoteric and astrological dates that will help you prepare for the days, weeks, and months ahead. Los Angeles-based Howe also offers astrology and tarot readings (currently virtual), as well as workshops and reiki treatments. Produced by Peachy Kings and printed on thick stock, this Tom of Finland Wall Calendar 2022 ($22) includes 13 figurative illustrations by the pioneering queer artist. Classic Tom of Finland characters – some dressed, some naked, all bulging – make every month extraordinary.

Typodarium 2022

With 365 typefaces from 248 typographers from 35 countries, this calendar, created by Lars Harmsen and Raban Ruddigkeit, is a source of inspiration for lettering enthusiasts and designers. In a lilac box (which doubles as storage for archiving favorite fonts), Typodarium 2022 (€20) marks every day with bold, eye-catching, whimsical and fresh fonts, from ornamental script to lofty serifs. On Sundays and holidays, the featured font was made by hand, using scissors, pencils, stamps or tape.

Calendar David Shrigley

Printed on FSC-accredited paper, this official document David Shrigley Calendar ($18) is packed with quirky, nerve-wracking, and sweet illustrations from the multidisciplinary artist. From drawings of drunken stupors to domestic anxieties and dog accidents, this humorous calendar, complete with a dozen stickers, is an appropriate and functional collection of Shrigley’s art.

Deadbeat Club Calendar

From Los Angeles-based independent publisher (and coffee roaster), Deadbeat Club comes this limited edition calendar 2022 ($30), featuring photography, color washes, custom lettering and personal doodles by contemporary artist and pro skateboarder Ed Templeton. Measuring 12 by 13 inches, with Wire-O binding, the pages inside vary between two-tone color and black-and-white offset illustrations.
