Church courtyard and bake sale
Spring has arrived and the First Christian Church Ladies’ Council has many special items for your home or garden. You are invited to the council yard and bake sale at 8 a.m. Friday and Saturday at Fellowship Hall at the corner of Maple and Copper streets.
There will be clothes, household items, books, tools, electronics, and maybe even furniture.

Small Business Roundtable
Deming-Luna County Economic Development invites you to attend a small business roundtable with special guests, New Mexico Senator Crystal Diamond (R-District 35) and New Mexico Representative Candie Sweetser ( D-District 32). The event will take place at 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at the La Fonda Restaurant Banquet Hall, 601 E. Pine St. in Deming, NM.
The purpose of the roundtable will be to discuss the recent legislative session and its impact on small businesses. It is also a platform to voice your concerns about your business.

DWI Planning Council
The Luna County DWI Planning Board meets at noon on Wednesday, March 30 at Marie’s Italian Grill. This is a hybrid meeting. Agenda, minutes and join link will be posted on the county website 72 hours prior to the meeting.
Antioch Church Barbecue
The Antioch Missionary Baptist Church at 513 W. First St. will be hosting a BBQ from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2022 at the church.
Delivery is available within the city limits. Please call 575-936-4279 Friday after 10 a.m. for orders. Profits are donated to the revitalization project of our building.
The menu includes: plate of barbecue ribs, $10; barbecue brisket plate, $10; and combined ribs and brisket platter, $12. All come with sides and dessert.
Keep Luna County Beautiful (KLCB) is soliciting letters of interest from youth-focused organizations to contract litter cleanup during the Great American Duck Race (GADR). The amount of the contract is $10,000. The letter should include the following: a cleanup plan for the event, the organization’s ability to meet the agreement, and how the funds will help the organization/group.
The contractual commitment is for four days, August 25-28, 2022 (during the GADR event), from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day. Letters and should be sent by the close of business on April 29, 2022 and can be emailed to: [email protected] For more information, contact Mary Mackey at 575-694-5257.
Predator control program
The County Board of Commissioners wants to continue the county’s predator control program and needs your help. If you pay livestock taxes in Luna County, a signature on the petition is required to continue the program.
You can find a petition to sign at the Luna County Manager’s office or your county commissioner.
Luna County Health Fair
The Luna County Board of Health needs your help with their “Spring into Wellness Health Fair”. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 2 at the Mimbres Valley Special Events Center, 2300 E. Pine St. in Deming, NM.

Fried Knights Fish
The Knights of Columbus, St. Joseph Council #4256 of Holy Family Catholic Church, will be hosting a Lenten Fish Fry from 4-6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 13 at Parish Hall, 615 S. Copper St.
The fish dinner is $9 per plate and will include fried fish, coleslaw, baked potato or fries, a roll, coffee or tea, and dessert.
