Google Calendar is a great tool for your events, appointments, reminders and birthdays. But you don’t have to settle for the built-in calendars or ones you can subscribe to; you can create your own.
For work, school, kids and more, you can easily add and customize your own Google Calendar. Name the calendar whatever you want, give it a color to make its events stand out, and hide it even if it’s a seasonal calendar.
To note: Unfortunately, you can’t create calendars in the Google Calendar mobile app. You must therefore have access to a desktop computer to follow these instructions.

Create a new Google Calendar
Visit the Google Calendar website and sign in. Click the gear icon in the top right to open the settings menu and select “Settings”.
On the left, expand Add calendar and choose “Create a new calendar”.
Give your calendar a name and possibly a description. Select your time zone from the drop-down list and click “Create calendar”.
You should then see the name of your new calendar appear on the left under Settings for my calendars. This is where you can customize your calendar options.
Adjust your calendar settings
Select your new calendar under My Calendars Settings to expand it. You can then cycle through the settings by selecting each on the left or simply by scrolling down the right side of the page.
Automatically accept invitations: Automatically add events to your calendar from the invitations you receive, only add those that do not conflict with others or display no invitations.
Access permissions for events: Make your calendar available to others to see all event details or only if you are free or busy.
Share with specific people: If you want to share your calendar with your friends, family or colleagues, you can click “Add people” and adjust the sharing permissions.
All-day event and event notifications: Configure default notification times for scheduled events and all day.
Other Notices: Choose to receive email notifications for new, changed, or canceled events, as well as event responses and your daily calendar.
Integrate calendar: Here you have links to publish your calendar or for the iCal format. You can also use the embed code for your website or blog.

Delete calendar: If you decide to stop using the calendar later, you can go here and unsubscribe or delete the calendar altogether.
All of the above changes you make to your new calendar are saved automatically.
So when you’re done, just click the back arrow next to Settings in the top left to return to the main Google Calendar screen. You can return to this area and update your settings or calendar name if needed.
Personalize your Google Calendar
When you visit the main page of Google Calendar, you can access your calendars on the left side. If the menu is hidden, click Main Menu (three vertical lines) at the top left to show it.
View calendar events
Then expand My Calendars and you will see the calendar you created. To view events from this calendar, be sure to check the box. If you want to hide the calendar or its events at any time, just uncheck it.
Color your calendar
To give your calendar a fresh color, click on the three dots on the right to open the options. Choose a color or click the plus sign to add a custom color. All events in your calendar will display in the color you choose.
Hide your calendar
As mentioned, you can hide a calendar from your list if you wish. This is useful for seasonal, school, or sports calendars that you don’t use all year round. Click on the three dots next to the calendar and select “Hide from list”.
To view the calendar later, return to the settings where you originally created it. On the left, under My Calendars Settings, click the eye icon for Show in calendar list.
Point: You can quickly access the settings by clicking on the three dots next to the calendar and selecting “Settings and sharing”.
New calendars you create in Google Calendar will also sync to the app on your other devices. This is a great bonus for creating a custom calendar.
