What is the Working Hours function?

The Working hours setting in Google Calendar lets you block your time away so that everyone can see it. After you’ve set your working hours, Google Calendar will let you know that you’re not available for meetings or events.

Instead of manually entering and blocking the time, a setting can complete this process for you.

Who can use it?

Currently, Google Calendar only allows you to use the Work Hours feature if your account is through your work or school organization. If you have one of these accounts and you still don’t see the setting, you’ll need to contact your administrator for assistance.

How to set working hours in Google Calendar

To set your working hours, you must first open Google Calendar on your desktop. Then follow these simple steps:

  1. At the top right of your screen, select the cogwheel icon, and then click Settings.

  2. Under General, select Business hours.

  3. Check the box next to Activate working hours to activate the function.

  4. Choose your working days by selecting the buttons corresponding to each day of availability.

  5. Change the hours for each day by clicking on the hour in each field.

That’s it! If you have the same working hours every day, you can select Copy times to all to make the process even easier. Once you are done, your settings will be saved automatically.
