Trader Joe’s is coming for our felines – once again! – this holiday season and bringing back its Advent Calendar for cats for the second year. The brand first announced the cat treat calendars in October 2019 on its podcast, Inside Shopkeeper Joe’s. In the episode, Matt Sloan, VP of Product Marketing and Special Guest, VP of Merchandising Colin Fields, gave listeners the inside
litter scoop on calendars.
“Last year we released the Advent Calendar for Dogs, which looked pretty weird until we hit the stores and there were a lot of fans,” Colin said of the calendars. of Dog Treats 2018. “And we’ve heard from our feline loving customers that we should have something for their cats. So we found it, we developed it, and it’s pretty cool.” As for what’s inside? “These are magical treats made with salmon and seaweed, and cats love seaweed.”
After apparently tasting one of the treats, Matt said, “You know what? It’s not good. But I’m not a cat.” Colin reassured listeners: “But if you’re a cat, you’re going to really like it. And after eating 24, your 25th will be a gigantic, fish-shaped.”
Those $ 6 calendars – and the dog version – are on the shelves now, so keep an eye out for your next TJ trip (or you can splurge and buy one on Amazon for $ 19). We can’t wait to spoil our kittens with 24 delicious salmon and seaweed treats in the days leading up to Christmas, then surprise them with their giant fish-shaped treat on Christmas morning!
